A Carpet Bag by Favorite Things: Leslie Gladman

Reminiscent of days gone by. The Carpet Bag is a large, roomy handbag with a zippered top and dowels to add structure and shape. The large interior has one inside pocket which makes this bag great for travel, quilt classes, and many other uses. The shoulder strap is detachable and has comfortable shoulder pads. Finished dimensions are H-14" x W-20" x D-7".

Materials List:

1 2/3 yd fabric 45" or 1 1/3 yd 54" fabric for bag
1 1/4 yd fabric 45" or 2/3 yd 54" wide fabric for lining
1 yd interlining (fusible fleece or Warm & Natural)
24" separating zipper
1 yd 3/8" or 1/2" cord
one large button
two medium buttons or two buckles (bar should fit 1 1/4")two 1 1/4" D-rings
two heavy duty snaps
thread
48" of 5/8" dowel
optional:
For contrasting flap and front straps: purchase an additional 1/4 yd fabric
For contrasting dowel casing, zipper top, handles, D-ring straps, shoulder strap and zipper pull: purchase an additional 1/2 yd
