Notions: A collection of fabric treasures. Embellishment goodies: threads, ribbons, lace, yarns, trims, buttons, beads and charms. Cording for straps. 1/2 yd fabric for bias (if covering cord).
Interfacing: Diane recommends using a woven interfacing which comes in light, medium and stiff weights and then experimenting to see what you like. Combining batting with interfacing also changes the hand of the finished bag. If starting with one type, medium is suggested.
Batting: Batting adds a wonderful feel to a bag, giving it more body while keeping it soft. The padding adds more dimension to the surface if you are doing any stitching, beading, appliqué or surface design techniques. Experiment with several types to determine preference. There is a list of batting types on page 1 of the guide sheets.
Surface Design: There are lots of ideas for adding surface design to your purse included in this pattern, Painting, stenciling, stamping, silk screening and machine or hand embroidery are some favorites. Techniques can also be combined, creating a rich, interesting texture.
